Start-Up Visa

The Start-Up Visa program provides Canadian permanent residence to entrepreneurs and business professionals who want to immigrate to Canada. It is usually referred to as the Start-Up Visa program (SUV). It is a program through which foreign Entrepreneurs and Business Professionals can immigrate to Canada with the support of a Canadian Designated Organization.

The business has to be supported by one of the following designated Investors:

1. Angel investor.

2. Venture capital fund.

3. Business incubator.

The required commitment must meet the following criteria:

1. A designated angel investor group must invest at least $75,000 into the qualifying business. Candidates can also qualify with two or more investments from angel investor groups totalling $75,000.

2. A designated venture capital fund must confirm that it is investing at least $200,000 into the qualifying business. Candidates can also qualify with two or more commitments from designated venture capital funds totalling $200,000.

3. A designated business incubator must accept the applicant into its business incubator program.

The requirements for the program are as under:

1. Qualifying business.

2. Commitment Certificate and Letter of Support from a designated entity.

3. Sufficient unencumbered, available and transferable settlement funds.

4. Proficiency in English or French at minimum Canadian Language Benchmark level 5.

Provincial Entrepreneur Programs

All Canadian provinces have separate programs for individuals  interested in immigrating to Canada as an Entrepreneur. Each province has its own requirements and eligibility criteria.

Th province after reviewing an application provides nomination for the applicant to the federal immigration process. It is a great pathway for individuals with managerial experience or who have been successfully running their own business for more than three years.
